Primary school children usually travel to school independently soon after starting school – on foot, by scooter, or by bike, some even by bus and train. At the same time, their radius for traveling alone or with friends also expands. They must learn to navigate safely in traffic and use public transportation. This is the goal of traditional traffic education. Contemporary mobility education encompasses much more: It is a holistic, comprehensive approach that incorporates aspects such as the future of mobility, climate and environmental protection, sustainability, health, and social justice in the transportation system. The teaching suggestions in this issue address such topics.
