The Stokes News, King NC
For more than 150 years, The Stokes News and its predecessors have served the people of Stokes County as their primary source of news, as well as a guide to satisfy the community’s appetite for goods and services through advertising of local merchants.
The Stokes News traces its heritage to The Danbury Reporter, established by John Pepper in 1872, and The King Times, established in 1961 by John T. Wall and William E. Warren and shortly thereafter merging with The Pilot Mountain News to become The King Times News. Ownership of the newspapers changed over the years, and the two papers merged in 2002 to form The Stokes News, providing countywide news coverage in one publication.
