89.7 FM KMSU, MANKATO MN

KMSU began broadcasting as a non-commercial, educational FM radio station on January 7th, 1963. Back then we had a ten watt signal that transmitted from the Mankato State Teachers College located on the Old Main campus, and our schedule was filled with classical and popular music, as well as news and discussion. Today KMSU has a 20,000 watt signal that reaches thoughout southern Minnesota and northern Iowa, and you can also hear us worldwide via the internet and our KMSU streaming app.

The core of KMSU's schedule is produced by volunteers. They're your friends and neighbors, and they believe in an independent media voice. They love music and their community, and they work hard to create programming that you won't find anywhere else on the radio dial. From rock to country, world music to experimental sounds, news to nonsense, there's not much that you can't discover on this wonderful little radio station.
