The magazine is published monthly by Carl Hanser Verlag , Munich. Kunststoffe is the official publication of German plastics trade associations. Hanser also publishes an English-language edition, Kunststoffe international .
Founded in 1911 by Ernst Richard Escales, the journal title Kunststoffe (Plastics) he created over the years gave this class of materials its name in German-speaking countries.In most other languages, plastics are referred to as plastics (English), plastiques (French) or plásticos (Spanish) due to their plastic properties.
