It affiliated with Fox at the network's launch in 1986 and began producing local newscasts in 1990. Initially starting with just one newscast at 10 p.m., in the 2000s and 2010s it expanded its news operation into morning and evening time slots.

WDRB TV 41 began broadcasting on February 28, 1971. After being acquired by Block Communications, Inc. of Toledo, Ohio in 1984, WDRB began adding stronger, more recent off-network sitcoms and dramas to the schedule.
On April 5, 1987, WDRB became a charter Fox affiliate. After being acquired by the Minneapolis Star and Tribune Company (later Cowles Media), WDRB moved in June, 1980 from its original studios in Louisville's Butchertown neighborhood into brand new facilities at 624 West Muhammad Ali Boulevard in downtown Louisville. The station again changed hands in 1984 when it became the flagship station of Block Communications, Inc. of Toledo, Ohio. It then took its next major step toward prominence when it became a charter affiliate of the then-new Fox Network in 1986.
In 1990, WDRB experienced perhaps its most significant evolution with the creation of a News Department and the introduction of "The News at 10", the area's first local prime time newscast, and one of the first local newscasts in the nation to be produced by a Fox affiliate. Another immediate ratings success, the program soon expanded to a sixty-minute format airing seven nights a week, and changed its name to "Fox News at 10" in 1995. Further expansion by the WDRB News Department took place in 1998 with the introduction of "Fox in the Morning" weekdays from 5 to 9 AM, and the late morning newscast "Fox News at 11:30." In September, 2001, the one-hour "Fox News @ 4" debuted, and that was followed in January, 2011 by "Fox 41 Early Evening News," providing the final element of WDRB's local news presence in all dayparts.
WDRB broadcasts digitally on channel 41.1, and also provides the vintage TV series network, Antenna TV, on its side channel, 41.2. The station's transmitter is located in Floyd Knobs, Indiana. WMYO, Channel 58, made its debut in March 1994 as an independent station with the original call letters WFTE, and became a charter affiliate of the United Paramount Network (UPN) when it debuted in January 1995. In September 2006, the station changed networks and call letters, becoming a charter affiliate of Fox-owned MyNetworkTV. Also owned by Block Communications, Inc. in Salem, Indiana, the station shares sales and other support staff with WDRB.
