The Walker County Messenger primarily serves Walker County in northwest Georgia. It publishes each Wednesday. The office is at 108 West LaFayette Square in LaFayette, Ga. It is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each weekday, except on New Year's Day, July Fourth, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

The Walker County Messenger is the county's oldest continuous business, having published its first newspaper on July 27, 1877. The first edition was four pages and a subscription cost $1 per year. Capt. Augustus McHan was the editor. The newspaper, located at the time on the east side of the downtown square in LaFayette, has undergone a number of changes in management and ownership: Capt. Augustus McHan, 1877-1881; Capt. Nathan Campbell Napier, 1881-1902; N.C. Napier Jr., 1902-14; N.C. Napier Jr. and Edmond Pleasant Hall Jr., 1914-15; E.P. Hall Jr., 1915-73; Joseph Hill Hall Sr., 1973-1977; Boone Publishing Co., 1977-88; News Publishing Co., Sept. 22, 1988, to 2015. Boone Publishing Co. decided it needed more space and moved the newspaper a block, to 120 E. Patton St. in downtown LaFayette. In 2009 the newspaper moved to its current location. Times-Journal Inc. acquired the newspaper in February 2015.
