In 2011, WBND-TV, ABC57, saw a need in the Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan community for better local news coverage.
ABC57 began local news coverage in April 2011. The station employed the most Multi-Media Journalists in the South Bend market and embedded them into the local communities. The theory: more reporters in the community would uncover more stories which previously went uncovered.
Since that time, television industry professionals from across the United States have recognized ABC57’s award-winning work, including recognition for investigations, community involvement, and “Outstanding Newscast” achievements as part of 10 Emmy awards from the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS).
