Williamson County Sun
The Williamson County Sun is an award-winning community newspaper based in Georgetown, Texas. It is mailed to subscribers on Wednesday and Friday each week. The Sun is not only the oldest newspaper in Williamson County, it is the county’s oldest business. Printing its first issue May 19, 1877, the newspaper has been published without interruption for more than 145 years. Throughout its history, the Sun has always been locally owned and now has over 70 years of family ownership. At first, the Sun rented space on the third floor of the original courthouse built on the Square. In 1881, the Sun moved into the stone building at 711 Main Street on the east side of the Square, and in 1936, the newspaper bought and moved into the two-story building next door. The paper is still written there today. The Sun is the newspaper of record for the county seat and focuses on news about Georgetown, county government and other neighboring communities in Williamson County.
