Zeitschrift für Agrargeschichte und Agrarsoziologie

The GfA was founded in 1953 in Stuttgart-Hohenheim and is now headquartered in Frankfurt am Main. Its approximately 200 members are scientific institutes, libraries and public institutions with an agricultural history focus, as well as numerous individuals who are scientifically, professionally and privately interested in the history of rural societies or in historical contexts in general.

The society's goals are to research the history of rural societies and areas, to inform the interested public and to establish contacts.

We hold a one- or two-day conference every year, usually in June. There are also many other contacts and collaborations between members.

The society's publication organ is the "Zeitschrift für Agrargeschichte und Agrarsoziologie" (ZAA). Subscription to the ZAA is included in the membership fee.
