TRANSPORT Management 102
As usual, I have the pleasure of sharing with you my impressions on some recent news topics in our sector. On the other hand, please do not hesitate to send me your comments, thoughts or reactions… Best of Wallonia: the figures speak for themselves. For its 1st edition , the networking and information platform “Best of Wallonia” (28 May, Namur Expo) attracted more than 1,400 visitors, 500 of whom attended the two plenary conferences. The same success for the Job Day, which attracted more than 200 candidates. Even if we ignore the figures, Best of Wallonia has fulfilled its mission, namely to bring together the Walloon “transport and logistics” community, encourage the exchange of experiences and provide a maximum of information in a minimum of time. This provided participants with information on how to optimise the management of their company. We are already setting a next rendezvous, namely on 18 May 2021 for the second edition! Foreign investment: Belgium holds its ground . Ernst & Young has published the barometer for the economic attractiveness of European countries. For the first time in a long time, Europe has registered a decline in foreign investment, namely 4%. That aside, the Old Continent remains by far the most targeted region in the world with a market share of 56% (the 2nd is at 42%). Even more encouraging is the fact that Belgium alone has seen an increase in foreign projects of 29%! The Brexit effect is certainly not unrelated to this. More specifically, logistics projects for Belgium increased by 18% in 2018. This once again increases the attractiveness of our country at that level. The arguments in favour of Belgium? Qualitative and skilled personnel, transport infrastructure and quality of life. The black point? Mobility…
In 2018, there were 18% more logistics projects by foreigners in our country
An "intermodal" chair in memory of Dennie Lockefeer. We still remember the unexpected death by accident of Dennie Lockefeer, commercial director of the Van Moer group. In his memory, Jo Van Moer wants to set up a chair for fundamental research on intermodal transport at the University of Antwerp. A wonderful idea that TRANSPORTMEDIA wants to support through its media. If you also want to support this chair, send an email to Yves Hebb ( yves@vanmoer.com ), responsible for RH at the Van Moer group. Enjoy reading!
