However, a study of road accidents in the United Kingdom concludes that an autonomous braking system on commercial vehicles could drastically increase safety. The scientist's analysis shows that the number of accidents involving vans would fall by 38 percent. These emergency braking systems have prevented 2,496 incidents in the United Kingdom last year by detecting an obstacle themselves and, if necessary, executing an emergency stop without the driver's intervention.
