Our country is currently groaning under an unprecedented media storm. After the terrible attacks in Paris at the end of last year, Brussels and Molenbeek were all the rage. Under headlines such as 'Brussels: capital of terrorism' or 'Molenbeek: breeding ground for radicalised people', Belgium suddenly became the centre of attention in the world. A painful incident that we certainly cannot be proud of. The American research agency Prologis also bombarded Belgium to the 'place to be' , although we can be truly proud of this. The study that Prologis drew up shows that Antwerp/Brussels is the second best logistics region in Europe. Only the Dutch Venlo does better. In terms of location and accessibility, our country is top, but the (road) infrastructure and e-commerce are a flop. It is high time to change that. After years of lagging behind the Netherlands and Germany, the social partners finally reached an agreement on night work for the e-commerce sector at the end of December. A step that was absolutely necessary to maintain our logistics expertise. Although the most important question now resounds: Have we not lost too much ground to our neighbouring countries?
