Niagara Falls Review

The Niagara Falls Review was first published in 1873, after having been established in 1879 by William Henry Anger and James Edwin Anger.

 

Published daily since the 1930s, The Review is the primary news source for Niagara Falls, and the nearby towns of Fort Erie and Niagara-on-the-Lake.

 

The paper was for many years owned by Roy Thomson, and was an important part of the Thomson media company.

 

Thomson sold The Review to Conrad Black’s Hollinger in 1995 and it was sold again in 2000 when Hollinger’s publishing assets were sold to Canwest. In 2003, Osprey Media purchased the Review which was sold again to Quebecor-owned Sun Media, which in turn was acquired by Postmedia.

 

In 2017, the newspaper was sold to Torstar Corporation, which also publishes the Toronto Star, The Hamilton Spectator, the Waterloo Region Record, The St. Catharines Standard, The Welland Tribune, The Peterborough Examiner, Metroland community newspapers and several other media properties.
