AKC Pet Insurance

Our history dates to the 1980s, across the pond in the UK. Dog enthusiast Sir John D. Spurling entered the pet insurance business in 1984 and quickly found success, filling a much-needed gap for pet owners. His business expanded, resulting in the creation of a pet insurance company exclusively for the Kennel Club of Great Britain.

For nearly two decades, it provided pet insurance to dogs in the UK before its arrival in the United States as PetPartners in 2002. A year later, AKC Pet Insurance was launched as the exclusive pet insurance brand of the American Kennel Club.
