A twice-weekly newspaper in Rhode Island, the Warwick Beacon is the only source of all-local news for residents, covering everything that happens from City Hall to Mickey Stevens.
The Warwick Beacon is a twice-weekly newspaper that dates back to 1953 and serves the community of Warwick, Rhode Island. In 1969, it was purchased by John Howell and Anthony Ritacco of Beacon Communications.
Howell took sole possession of the company in the 1980s, with Richard Fleischer coming on as the general manager. Beacon Communications is also the publisher of the Cranston Herald and Johnston Sun Rise newspapers, and is in charge of a coalition of publications called the Rhode Island Newspaper Group.
