At Cottage Life, we celebrate all that is great about the people, activities, and places that make cottage living special for Canadians. We do this by creating original, award-winning content across all media, including Cottage Life magazine, cottagelife.com and social media, the Cottage Life TV channel, and four annual Cottage Life Shows. We connect our audiences with the information, products, and professionals they need to enjoy their weekend pursuits—and have some fun along the way.
Our expertise comes from humble beginnings. Cottage Life began as a magazine in 1988 by an enterprising first-time cottage owner who, upon discovering there was virtually no information dedicated to cottagers, saw a publishing opportunity. The first issue of Cottage Life magazine hit newsstands packed with well-researched, enlightening articles, how-to tips, endearing first-person stories, and stunning images. The appeal was instant and the magazine became a beloved and familiar fixture in cottages everywhere.
As the magazine grew, we were inspired to think bigger. In the Spring of 1994 we launched the The Cottage Life Show in Toronto. It was billed as “the magazine come to life,” offering visitors the chance to browse and shop the latest in boats, docks, water toys, building products, deck furniture, decor, and food. The show has since added a Fall version in Toronto as well as spring shows in Ottawa and Edmonton.
The Cottage Life channel launched nationwide in 2013. The channel broadens the scope of weekend living with a line-up of complementary programming, covering real estate, food, DIY projects, pets, and more. We’re also the home of original series featuring our own signature talent, including Scottish design duo, Colin and Justin, and East Coast brothers, Kevin and Andrew Buckles, also known as the guys from Brojects.
Along the way, we’ve fostered a thriving digital community that reaches more than 1.5 million Canadians a month across cottagelife.com, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, and our e-newsletter, Dockside. Each day we share a slice of weekend living with original videos, beautiful images, and expert advice.
Over three decades, Cottage Life has delivered on its core mission to inform and inspire cottagers and, with its homespun essence and trademark humour, has become an iconic, multi-platform Canadian brand, reaching cottage owners and cottage enthusiasts alike with captivating content they can’t find anywhere else.
