Smith Mountain Eagle

Founded in 1985, the Smith Mountain Eagle is a family-owned community newspaper covering news about local municipalities and government agencies, crime, courts and public records, politics, sports, businesses, engagements, weddings and anniversaries, church services, social activities, community events and activities. Smith Mountain Eagle is published each Wednesday. Smith Mountain Eagle has a readership of more than 11,000 each week. The areas covered include the Smith Mountain Lake community, the surrounding counties of Bedford, Franklin and Pittsylvania, and the communities of Moneta, Huddleston, Goodview, Hardy, Wirtz, Burnt Chimney, Penhook and Union Hall.

Smith Mountain Eagle is led by editor Steve McClintic, Jr. McClintic has more than 16 years experience in the publishing and media fields, including having previously operated a consumer health publication business that he launched. Smith Mountain Eagle's features a variety of advertisers including real estate professionals, local supermarkets, retail stores, hospitals and health organizations, and other businesses and professionals. Our mission is to be a written and visual record of what makes our community special.
